The UK has not abandoned the idea of sending troops to Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities, APA reports citing Sky News.
The cost of deploying a military contingent is estimated at over £100 million ($135 million). This was stated by UK Defence Secretary John Healey during a speech at the Lord Mayor's Mansion in the City of London.
"Peace is possible. If President [US Donald] Trump can achieve peace, then we will be ready to help ensure that peace lasts. This requires us to invest and prepare our troops for deployment. [UK Prime Minister] Keir Starmer has stated that he wants to see British troops on the ground in Ukraine if necessary. I have already accelerated [the allocation] of millions of pounds to prepare for any possible deployment in the event of peace. I expect the cost will exceed £100 million," the head of the department said, whose speech was broadcast by the Sky News channel .
