Ukrainian parliament disapproves Yulia Timoshenko’s candidature for premiership

President Viktor Yushchenko also participated in the voting. 225 parliamentarians voted for Yulia Timoshenko’s candidature. The proposal on repeated voting was not accepted.
Two parliamentarians of ‘Orange’ coalition consisting of the factions of the Yulia Timoshenko Bloc and Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defence Bloc voted against president’s nomination.
Leaders of Yulia Timoshenko Bloc stated that both parliamentarians voted for Timoshenko, but, their cards failed to operate. The cards of Arseniy Yatsenyuk and another parliamentarian of Yulia Timoshenko Bloc failed to operate during the repeated voting. Yatsenyuk announced 30-minute break and left along with President Viktor Yushchenko.
According to the constitution, 226 votes are needed for approval of Prime Minister and the Cabinet. ‘Orange’ coalition has 227 seats in parliament. /APA/
