Several more countries to join Schengen treaty in December

Lithuania, Estonia and other countries recently admitted to European Union (EU) will join Schengen treaty in December this year. The decision about it will be signed in November, APA’s Europe bureau reports. Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary having land boundaries with the 15 countries having previously joined Schengen treaty will close their border checkpoints. Border control in sea borders and airports will remain.
The Schengen zone now consists of 15 countries – Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Germany, Island, Norway, Italy, Greece, Luxemburg, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. /APA/
