CE Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Chechen Republic

The CE Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg, will visit the Chechen Republic next week, APA’s Europe bureau reports. The commissioner will concern himself with the human rights standards, visit military base of Chechen Interior Ministry, jail, police station, hospital and schools in Grozny and give a lecture at the University of Grozny.
Thomas Hammarberg plans to have meetings with Ramzan Kadirov, Prime Minister acting as President, Valery Kuznetsov, Prosecutor General and other officials, representatives of NGOs and visit the monument erected in honour of Beslan tragedy victims.
Following the visit, Commissioner Hammarberg will visit Moscow and meet representatives of Russian federal authorities. /APA/
