CE Committee of Ministers considers PKK leader Abdullah Ojalan cannot be re-tried
14 February 2007 16:25 (UTC +04:00)
The Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe has finished discussions on the judgment of PKK head Abdullah Ojalan made by European Court for Human Rights, APA reports quoting Anatolia agency.
The Committee decided that there is no need to retry Ojalan. The decision has not been publicized officially. The decision says that Turkey has implemented all commitments during the trial of PKK leader. No violation was observed during the trial. So it is impossible for European Court for Human Rights to consider Ojalan’s case. The ECHR had rejected most part of Ojalan’s appeal in 2005. The court made a decision to consider appeal concerning only violation of human rights. /APA/
