The reduction of Azans in three big cities of Bulgaria caused the dissatisfaction of Muslims. Balkan Refugees Solidarity and Culture Organization began campaign “No silence to our Azan!. The Muslims community thinks that new rules are applied on the initiative of racist Ataka party. At present, azan is sounded in Plovdi two times a day, in Sofia three times a day, Girchali where Turks are living four times a day.
The leader of BRSCO Seyhan Turkkan characterized the new rules as disrespect to the Muslims, and stressed that the number of mosques is few in Sofia and Azan and churches bells are the guarantee of peace in Balkans. The organization also called the political parties not to abuse this issue as political argument.
It should be noted according the last census of population held in 2001, 1.3m people of 7m population of Bulgaria are Muslims. /APA/
