Uzbek official: Cooperation with Azerbaijan is important for development of business environment

Cooperation with Azerbaijan is important for the development of the business environment, said Timur Khusanov, Director of the Department for Analysis, Support, and Coordination of State Policy on Small and Medium Business Development at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan at the presentation of the Asian Development Bank’s “Asia Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Monitor 2025” (ASM 2025) report held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of infrastructure development and regional connectivity for Uzbekistan, including cooperation with Azerbaijan:

“Connectivity is very important for Uzbekistan — this includes road maps, railway and highway projects, as well as cooperation with Azerbaijan. Our main goal is to ensure quality infrastructure for business.”

Timur Khusanov added that one of the key factors for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Uzbekistan is stable economic growth and strengthened infrastructure. According to him, the country’s annual GDP growth exceeds 6 percent, which creates a sustainable environment for entrepreneurship.

He also noted that Uzbekistan’s membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) will provide the country with access to foreign markets and strengthen economic integration.
