Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by nearly 4% in 2024

Retail trade turnover in 2024 amounted to 62.2 billion manat, APA-Economics reports citing Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee.

34.1 billion manat of retail trade turnover was related to food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 28.1 billion manat to non-food products. Compared to 2023, retail trade turnover increased by 3.9 percent in real terms, including 2.1 percent for food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 6.3 percent for non-food products.

In 2024, 50.5 percent of the money spent by buyers on goods purchased in the retail trade network was spent on food products, 4.4 percent on beverages and tobacco products, 14.5 percent on textile products, clothing and footwear, 5.5 percent on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.8 percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.2 percent on pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.2 percent on computers, telecommunications equipment and printing products, and 16.9 percent on other non-food goods.

In the reporting year, the value of goods sold by economic entities operating in the non-state sector increased by 3.9 percent in real terms compared to the previous year, accounting for 99.7 percent of the total retail trade turnover.

Compared to 2023, in 2024, retail trade turnover increased in real terms by 8.6 percent for enterprises, by 1.8 percent for individual entrepreneurs, and by 3.4 percent for markets and fairs.

In the reporting year, one person in the retail trade network purchased an average of 508.0 manats per month, including 278.8 manats of food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 229.2 manats of non-food goods.
