Meeting held within framework of Passenger and Cargo Control Program in Türkiye

The 10th Political-Level Annual Interregional Meeting held within the framework of the Passenger and Cargo Control Program (PCCP), as well as the 7th Expert-Level Meeting of the Interregional Network of Customs Authorities and Port Control Units (IREN), was held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, the State Customs Committee told APA.

According to the information, a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Customs Service Major General Guloghlan Muradli, participated in the event.

Within the framework of the event, discussions were held on the Passenger and Cargo Control Program, a joint project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization (WCO), its implementation at the national level, the results achieved in recent years and the challenges faced in the countries of Central Asia, the Black Sea, and South Caucasus regions, as well as in Pakistan under the program. Additionally, discussions were held on support for legal trade and efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of drugs in the operational region of the Interregional Network of Customs Authorities and Port Control Units (IREN) during 2021–2024, the IREN operation aimed at countering the illegal circulation of synthetic drugs, and other related issues.
