Thanks to modern risk analyses, digital targeting algorithms, and real-time monitoring systems implemented by the Target Center of the Main Operational and Investigative Department of the State Customs Committee, an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of medicinal products into the country was prevented, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the information, the analytical platform of the Target Center detected that a vehicle carrying a “potato” load from the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan had deviated from its route and discrepancies in the cargo information were identified, and it was taken under control at the “Girmizi Korpu” customs post of the Tovuz Customs Department.
As a result of coordinated measures, the location of the vehicle was determined, and during the initial inspection, the fact of illegal interference with the cargo space was discovered.
During customs control measures carried out by the mobile team, cardboard boxes hidden inside the “potato” load, which smugglers attempted to unload from the vehicle, were seized.
Upon inspection of the cardboard boxes, a total of 22,000 units of 90 different types of medicinal products were discovered. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
