Although political relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan are at a high level, the economic indicators do not reflect this level, said Yarub Qudah, the co-chairman of the Azerbaijan–Jordan Intergovernmental Commission from the Jordanian side and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, during his speech at the 4th meeting of the Commission, APA-Economics reports.
The minister emphasized that there is very great economic potential between Jordan and Azerbaijan, but the current trade turnover remains far below the real possibilities.
Yarub Qudah said that holding the next commission meeting in Amman and organizing a business forum in parallel would accelerate cooperation. He proposed a joint investment model particularly to strengthen the partnership in the field of pharmaceutical production:
“It is possible to finalize the production process of products manufactured in Jordan in Azerbaijan and ensure their access to regional markets.”
The minister also noted that he considers the participation of Azerbaijani companies in the reconstruction process in Syria important, and stated that joint activity in this direction would create great opportunities.
The Jordanian minister said that tourism is also one of the main potential areas, that the current indicators remain very low, and that in the second half of the year both sides should pay special attention to this sector.
