The export of construction materials produced in Azerbaijan to European Union countries is being studied, said Shahana Sari, the Secretary-General of the Azerbaijani Construction Materials Manufacturers Association (ATMIA), APA reports.
She mentioned that work is underway to export Azerbaijan’s construction materials to European countries through the Balkan Peninsula: "Currently, the standards of materials for export to the European Union countries and logistics issues are being studied. Based on preliminary price research, exports may be profitable."
She also commented on the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on Azerbaijan’s construction sector: "Currently, we have not faced serious problems in trade with Russia. We are working to increase the export of Azerbaijan’s construction materials to Russia. A few months ago, we signed a memorandum with the Russian Trade Mission. The volume of imports from Russia to Azerbaijan is threefold higher than the volume of exports from Azerbaijan to Russia. We have started systematic work to balance this."
She stated that Central Asian countries are a target market for Azerbaijan: "We have agreements with these countries regarding trade. Therefore, our companies can export to these countries more easily. Since transportation of construction products is more difficult, their profitability decreases when exported from one country to another."
