Azerbaijan has all the opportunities to transform its industrial zones into economic ecosystems, Nataly Mouravidze, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's (EBRD) Country Manager for Azerbaijan, said during a panel discussion at the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, APA reports.
She said that one of the key directions in the development of industrial zones today is their transformation into comprehensive economic ecosystems.
“In the past, investors came to industrial zones and focused on building factories. Now, however, they ask which markets they will be able to access from the region, whether it is possible to cover different markets, and what kind of ecosystem exists,” Mouravidze said.
She noted that the EBRD's experience in various countries shows that projects develop more effectively when industrial zones are transformed into ecosystems that bring together suppliers, buyers and manufacturers.
“All the key opportunities for this already exist in Azerbaijan. I believe that Azerbaijan has entered a new and important stage in transforming industrial zones into ecosystems,” the EBRD official said.
Mouravidze emphasized that, alongside the development of manufacturers, strengthening their links with suppliers and integrating all these opportunities into a unified system could contribute to increasing Azerbaijan's industrial and export potential.
