The United Kingdom is interested in expanding trade relations with Azerbaijan in the non-oil sector, UK Minister of State for Trade Lord Anas Sarwar said while speaking at the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
“Let us develop our partnership in the energy sector not only through oil trade, but also in the area of non-oil trade,” the minister said.
Lord Anas Sarwar also emphasized the importance of increasing both the volume of investment ties and the number of sectors they cover.
“Today, we heard good examples of UK investments in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani investments in the United Kingdom. I want to see these investments increase further and the relationship become more diversified in terms of scale,” he noted.
The minister also said it was important to take the partnership between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan, which has a history of nearly 35 years, to a new stage.
According to him, relations between the two countries are not limited to economic ties, but also cover the areas of defense and security.
“The United Kingdom is proud of its relationship and alliance with Azerbaijan. We are committed to this partnership and determined to strengthen it further,” Lord Anas Sarwar added.
