In the last two months, tomato exports from Azerbaijan to Russia have decreased sharply, APA-Economics reports, citing calculations based on the report of the State Statistical Committee.
In the first seven months of this year, 138,816 tons of tomatoes worth 149 million 541 thousand US dollars were sent to Russia. This means an average monthly export volume of approximately 19.8 thousand tons.
However, in August, tomato exports to Russia amounted to only 400 tons. In September, total tomato exports from the country amounted to 35 tons. Thus, tomato supplies from Azerbaijan to Russia have virtually stopped over the last two months.
Note that the Russian market accounts for approximately 97 percent of Azerbaijan's total tomato exports.
