Azerbaijan's tea import exceeds export by 19 times

In January-November of 2024, tea import in Azerbaijan has increased by 3.3% in volume compared to the corresponding period of the previous year reaching 12 893.4 tons, and in value increased by 4.5 %, reaching USD 67 million 715.5, APA-Economics reports citing the report of the State Customs Committee.

According to the information, during the corresponding period, Azerbaijan's tea export increased by 4.5% in volume reacing 679.4 tons year-on-year, and in value, increased by 1.6% reaching USD 5 mln. 998.4. Thus, in terms of volume, imports exceeded exports 19 times.

During this period, the average import price of one kilogram of tea was AZN 8.9, and the average export price was AZN 15.

Note that during January-November of last year, tea production in the country increased by 8.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 11,528 tons.

Recall that during the reporting period, tea exports accounted for 0.02% of Azerbaijan's total exports, and tea imports accounted for 0.36% of the country's total imports.
