Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Baghirov has clarified the issue related to the Temu platform, APA reports.

He provided this information during the discussion of the draft law on amendments to the Customs Code at today’s meeting of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis.

"The volume of parcels entering Azerbaijan via the Temu platform suddenly increased sharply. A large volume of cargo was brought to the airport all at once without prior electronic data or notifications. This volume reached up to 400 tons. We were forced to process them with our resources, determine who they belonged to, and for what purposes they were brought. These goods could also be imported for other purposes. Because we are not sure that only goods that are purely for consumption and are not dangerous are being imported through e-commerce. There are medicines that require authorization to be imported into the country. There may also be psychotropic substances and other prohibited items. We must maintain a balance. The issue related to Temu lasted for two weeks. Then we somehow resolved it with our own resources. We raised the issue with Temu that you must provide the data in advance so that we can enter it into the Risk Management System,” Shahin Baghirov said.
