Last year, the majority of Azerbaijan’s $83.9 million investments in the Georgian economy were directed to the transport sector, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the “Foreign Direct Investment in 2024” publication by the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The volume of Azerbaijani investments in Georgia’s transport sector amounted to $59.2 million, which accounted for 70.56% of Azerbaijan’s total investments.
In 2024, foreign investments of $105.2 million were attracted to Georgia’s transport sector, of which 56.2% belonged to Azerbaijan. The investments were made by the Georgian branch of SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC. Last year, the company ranked 10th among the top foreign investors in the neighboring country.
Other sectors in Georgia where Azerbaijan invested the most were trade ($16.8 million) and manufacturing ($10.4 million).
It should be noted that last year, Azerbaijan ranked 5th among Georgia’s main investor countries, accounting for 5.3% of the total share.
