In January-September of last year, foreign direct investment in the construction sector of Georgia amounted to 62 million 538 thousand US dollars, APA's local bureau reports, citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The volume of investments increased 37 times compared to the previous year.
26.1 million US dollars, or 42% of the investments, came from Azerbaijan. With this indicator, Azerbaijan took first place in the top five countries that invested the most in the construction sector of Georgia during the reporting period.
Along with Azerbaijan, the top five included Russia (11.7 million US dollars), Ukraine (10.9 million US dollars), Türkiye (9.5 million US dollars) and Slovakia (4.3 million US dollars).
