Discussions have been held on establishing ties between the customs academies of Azerbaijan and Greece, expanding the exchange of experience regarding authorized economic operators, creating working groups of experts in priority areas, and preparing a joint Action Plan covering the main areas of bilateral customs cooperation and specific measures, the State Customs Committee said, APA-Economics reports.
A meeting was held in Athens, Greece, between delegations of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Customs Administration of the Hellenic Republic within the framework of the 6th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial and Technological Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Hellenic Republic.
At the meeting of the delegations headed by First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Major General of the Customs Service Bahruz Guliyev, and Dimitrios Bourikos, Head of the General Directorate of Customs and Excise of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue of the Hellenic Republic, issues related to sharing best practices and expanding cooperation were discussed.
The meeting provided information on recent improvements implemented in the Greek customs system, the expansion of digitalization, the development of a risk- and data-based customs management model using modern technologies, as well as projects implemented in this area. In this regard, it was emphasized that the experience of the Azerbaijan Customs Service in the field of measuring and analyzing the duration of customs procedures (TRS) was of interest to the Greek side and that an exchange of experience in this area could be useful.
Information was also provided on the Azerbaijani side’s experience with TRS, the organization and development of the canine service, cooperation within the framework of the World Customs Organization, as well as work carried out in the field of capacity building.
