Azerbaijan, Germany discuss co-op in field of taxation

The Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Orkhan Nazarly, who is also the president of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), held a video meeting with Nils Weiß, the head of the Tax Directorate of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy told APA-Economics.

The meeting focused on the potential opportunities for joint activities, strengthening cooperation, and promoting international relations. The parties shared their views on diversifying partnerships within the IOTA framework and exchanging experiences in the field of taxation at the bilateral level. The meeting also discussed the activities of IOTA and the challenges observed in recent years. Proposals were reviewed on expanding the organization’s capabilities, attracting new members, and increasing financial sustainability. During the meeting, the work carried out during the leadership of the State Tax Service in IOTA, as well as strategic development plans and prospects aimed at improving the organization’s operational efficiency and attractiveness for member states, were highlighted.

In the continuation of the meeting, discussions were held on the priorities of bilateral cooperation in the field of taxation, and the importance of exchanging experiences in the application of innovations and improving tax administration was emphasized.
