The 6th meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye has been held, APA’s local bureau reports.
During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between the customs authorities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye was reviewed, and issues related to studying Türkiye’s experience in the implementation of the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS), simplifying customs procedures and accelerating border-crossing processes, including developing cooperation in the implementation of TIR and e-TIR mechanisms, ensuring faster passage through checkpoints located on the border between the two countries, and increasing the capacity for the passage of freight vehicles were discussed.
The sides also exchanged views on expanding the exchange of information in various areas of customs activities, combating customs offenses, authorized economic operators, mirror customs statistics, and studying advanced practices in risk management, as well as considered opportunities for conducting joint operations and training exercises.
At the end of the meeting, a protocol reflecting the issues discussed and the agreements reached was signed.
