The 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova on Economic Cooperation has been held in Baku, Ministry of Agriculture told APA.
The event was opened with a speech by the co-chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova on Economic Cooperation, Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov. He provided information on the reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan to diversify the economy.
Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, co-chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova on Economic Cooperation, Vladimir Bolea, stated that Moldova views Azerbaijan as a friendly country and is keen to develop partnership relations across all sectors. He highlighted the great potential for expanding cooperation in the economic and agricultural sectors between the two countries.
The participants then discussed the implementation status of the decisions adopted at the 5th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Chisinau on December 6, 2023, and noted significant progress in this regard. The meeting included discussions on bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova, including energy, transportation, agriculture, technology transfer, increasing trade turnover, promoting mutual investments, international cargo transportation, utilizing the advantages of the Middle Corridor for exporting products to third countries, and other issues.
The parties agreed to increase the number of direct flights, considering the significant tourism potential between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the protocol on the outcomes of the 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova on Economic Cooperation was approved.
Subsequently, a Memorandum of Understanding on veterinary cooperation was signed between the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the promotion of cooperation in renewable energy was also signed between the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and the National Center for Sustainable Energy under the Ministry of Energy of Moldova.
The parties agreed that the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Economic Cooperation Joint Intergovernmental Commission will be held in Chisinau next year.
