Abulfas Garayev: Carpet Museum and Mugham Center to be ready by 2008

He spoke about the steps taken in the development of culture, protection of historical buildings and reconstruction works in the theaters.
â€œA number of remarkable events happened in the sphere of culture and tourism in Azerbaijan in 2006. First of all Russian year in Azerbaijan is very important. Russian Federal Agency chairman Michail Shvidko said he was pleased with the attention paid to them and offered to hold Russian culture days in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani culture days in Russia. We are preparing for these events,â€? he said.
The minister said three state theaters are being reconstructed at the moment. He said projects of reconstruction of Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Heydar Aliyev Palace and Nizami cinema are being prepared at the moment.
â€œThe reconstruction of these buildings is very important. We need theaters, cinema and concert halls meeting international standards. We plan to finish the construction of Caret Museum and Mugham Center by 2008,â€? Abulfas Garayev said.
The memorial plagues of Rashid Behbudov and famous conductor of Niyazi will be opened on December 14 and 22. The ministry is having talks with Narimanov Executive Power for the establishment of Dede Gorgud Park. City and region libraries are also reconstructed.
Abulfas Garayev said that important events happened in the sphere of tourism. He said 900 000 tourists came to Azerbaijan during 6 months this year.
â€œCommercial on tourism potential in Azerbaijan is being broadcasted in SNN channel. The same project will be realized in Euronews channel. The ministry is working on the establishment of a new tourist zone in Khizi-Devechi and tourism complex in Lenkeran.â€? the minister said. /APA/
