The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was commissioned in 2017 and works on its expansion in the territory of Georgia will be completed by the end of this year, said Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy and Deputy Chairman of the National Coordinating Council on Sustainable Development, as he delivered speech during 2nd Baku Forum on Sustainable Development, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that the other important project is the launch of the Port of Baku. “The Alat free economic zone, which is located next to the Port of Baku and has modern infrastructure, will organize the production of high value-added, export-oriented products and services, expand the transit opportunities of Azerbaijan, and increase cargo transportation with attracting local and foreign investors.

I would also like to note that our socio-economic development strategy also includes the transformation of our country into a regional hub and e-commerce center,” the Minister added.
