SOCAR and SLB are cooperating on a project to redevelop the Bahar field, one of Azerbaijan’s oldest oil and gas fields, said Steve Gassen, Executive Vice President for Geographies at SLB, during the session titled “Leaders’ Speeches: Leaders’ Perspectives on Energy Transformation and Future Strategies” at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, Bahar is a mature field with a long production history and faces various development challenges.
Gassen said that the company, together with SOCAR, is assessing opportunities for the redevelopment of the field and is using artificial intelligence-based digital technologies for this purpose.
“We are developing new approaches to field development by applying AI-supported geological modeling and subsurface analysis solutions. The goal is to unlock the project’s development potential and create the conditions for an investment decision,” he noted.
According to the SLB executive, the creation of new and more sustainable energy supply chains is essential for ensuring energy security, and technology combined with cooperation plays a key role in this process.
Gassen added that the company is also continuing its cooperation with bp in Azerbaijan. According to him, the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies at the ACG fields helps improve production efficiency and optimize drilling costs.
