The 13th meeting of the Working Group on the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency in the liberated territories was held at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy, the Ministry told APA-Economics.
Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the large-scale reconstruction and development work being carried out in the liberated territories, which were declared a "Green Energy Zone" at the initiative of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The minister emphasized that the development of Karabakh and East Zangazur based on green technologies and energy efficiency principles has already become a model, and the positive trend reflected in the monitoring results once again confirms this.
Information was presented on residential areas, social infrastructure, and energy facilities that have been inaugurated or whose foundations were laid during the President's visits since the previous meeting to the cities of Jabrayil, Zangilan, Khojaly, Fuzuli, Khankendi, Shusha, and Aghdam, as well as the Khojavand and Lachin districts. It was noted that, within this framework, Shukurbeyli village, Azerenerji OJSC's 330 kV "Shafaq" substation in Soltanli village, and hydropower plants in Lachin were inaugurated.
Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources (BOEMDA), presented progress on the construction of solar power plants in Jabrayil, the construction of four hydropower plants in the Kalbajar and Lachin districts with private sector investment, as well as measurement and observation work in preparation for the construction of a wind power plant in Kalbajar. It was stated that electricity demand in the liberated territories is not only fully met through green energy, but surplus generation is also supplied to the country's unified power grid.
The meeting then heard reports on the results of monitoring the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency in Aghdam city, several villages of the Khojavand district, and the settlements of Girmizi Bazar and Hadrut, as well as on the current status of registering citizens as active consumers in Horovlu village of the Jabrayil district and the Khidirli and Kangarli villages of the Aghdam district.
It was reported that, overall, more than 2,500 private houses, public, and social buildings in the liberated territories have so far been equipped with solar panels with a total capacity exceeding 8,000 kW, along with more than 8,000 LED-based lighting units. Of these lighting units, 43%, or approximately 3,500, are hybrid systems powered by solar energy. Information was also presented on electric vehicle charging stations and the insulation of houses and buildings.
The meeting also reviewed issues related to heating systems in residential complexes. At the conclusion of the discussions, agreement was reached on taking the necessary measures to implement the proposals put forward.
