Commissioner: European countries expressed their collective ambitions to increase export of Azerbaijani gas

Azerbaijan is hosting this conference again at an important time, European Union Commissioner for Energy, co-chair of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor Mrs. Kadri Simson said during the press conference on the the results of the 10th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 2nd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the volume of Azerbaijani natural gas exported to Europe last year was 11 billion cubic meters.

Kadri Simson noted that Azerbaijani gas plays an important role in Europe's energy transit as well.

The EU Commissioner noted that after Russia started the war in Ukraine, the European energy market was subjected to Russian manipulation: "Our reliable partners helped in the fight against this manipulation, our partners like Azerbaijan played a role in stabilizing the European gas market. Our dialogue in this direction will continue. We are reliable buyers of Azerbaijani gas."

Kadri Simson added that the European countries also expressed their collective ambitions regarding increasing the export of Azerbaijani gas in today's discussions: "The goal is to increase the current figure to 20 billion cubic meters in the near future."
