The new Thermal Power Plant (TPP), which started construction in 2023 in Mingachevir, is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2025, this is mentioned in the Cabinet of Ministers' report for 2024, APA reports.
According to the report, the construction of the TPP, with a total capacity of 1880 megawatts, has been completed, equipment (4 utility boilers, 4 gas turbines, 4 electrical generators, and 4 power transformers) has been installed, and initially, the No. 1 gas turbine and No. 7 steam turbine have been launched in test mode and connected to the energy system.
Note that, in accordance with the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on October 25, 2022, a new power plant with a capacity of 1280 megawatts is being built in the territory of the "Azerbaijan" TPP in Mingachevir, which is the largest thermal power plant in the South Caucasus. This plant will be able to operate independently without any infrastructure from the "Azerbaijan" TPP.
