In accordance with the strategy of expanding the coverage of green energy sources and increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the energy system to 30% by 2030, "AzerEnergy" has started implementing a comprehensive action plan, AzerEnergy told APA-Economics.
According to the report, increasing the capacity of solar and wind power plants to 1850 megawatts by 2028 is planned. This means that the consumption of green energy in the energy system will reach 30-60 percent in some cases, depending on the seasons. Taking into account that the production of solar, as well as wind power plants depends purely on natural factors, i.e. the weather is sunny or windy, then, during the integration of 1850 megawatts of renewable energy sources into the energy system, it is a very important issue to maintain stability and reliability, to maintain a stable energy production capacity in the country, and to ensure continuous supply of demand.
In order to prevent cataclysms in the energy system in the future, "AzerEnergy" is implementing complex measures related to the integration of 1,850 megawatts of green energy into the energy system based on the analyzes of international technical consulting companies in the United States and Türkiye. Thus, in addition to implementation of tasks to participate in automatic frequency adjustment by optimizing the regulation systems of traditional power plants, updates are in progress in SCADA system used by "Azerenerji".
For this purpose, foreign specialists are invited and special courses are organized for the training of local specialists. At the same time, together with "SIEMENS", "General Electric", "MITSUBISHI", "Wartsila" and "EMERSON" companies, the required measures are being implemented in "Sumgait", "Janub", "Shimal", "Gobu" power plants. Monitoring and control systems are strengthened with WAMS/WACS application.
In parallel, "AzerEnergy" OJSC announced an international tender for a technical consulting company for the installation of a 250 megawatt battery storage system. At the same time, it is planned to announce a new international tender for consulting services and design for the application of SCADA and WAMS/WACS monitoring and control systems.
All these measures, besides playing a special role in the integration of 1850 megawatt solar and wind power plants into the energy system, will contribute to increasing the share of green energy in the energy system to the highest level and will increase the stability and reliability of the energy system to the highest level.
