“Our mission represents the Organization of Turkic States. This mission monitors the elections by dividing them into two parts. Members of the mission are members of the electoral bodies of the states represented in the OTS,” said Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States in his statement to journalists, APA reports.
He said that a part of the OTS mission currently is holding monitoring in Garabagh, especially in Shusha and Khankandi: “The group already has conducted monitoring in more than 10 polling stations in Baku since morning. Yesterday as well, we held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov within the framework of monitoring works and obtained the necessary information about the election process. In addition, our mission held a meeting with presidential candidates, as well as with the representatives of the ruling party participating in the elections.”
The Secretary-General of OTS noted that presidential elections in any country are considered an important occasion: “But I would rename these presidential elections in Azerbaijan as a historical event. Because, for the first time in the last decades, the election process is taking place in all territories of Azerbaijan. This not only makes Azerbaijani people happy, but all the nations of the Organization of Turkic States, I congratulate each of you on this occasion.”
