Meeting of Plenum of Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan heard CEC Chairman

At the session of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Chairperson of the Constitutional Court, judge rapporteur Sona Salmanova stated that the protocol of the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the general results of the voting in connection with the presidential elections held on February 7, 2024 in Azerbaijan was considered in accordance with the Constitutional procedure, APA reports.

The judge rapporteur Kamran Shafiyev noted that the Prosecutor's Office and the police authorities received no complaint regarding the presidential elections.

He noted that a complaint was considered in the Sumgayit Court of Appeal and the complaint was considered baseless.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov spoke at the session.

Sevda Suleymanova spoke with the certificate prepared by the group of experts consisting of employees of the State Statistics Committee, and the Docent of the Constitutional Law Department of the Law Faculty of Baku State University, Nasib Shukurov spoke as an expert. He stated that the presidential elections were held free, fair and democratic in line with the Constitution, and gave a positive opinion on the election process.

They have also answered the questions of the judges.

Later, the judges went to deliberation.

A session of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan has started, APA reports.

In the session, the issue of approving the protocol of the Central Election Commission regarding the results of the extraordinary presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan held on February 7, 2024 and announcing the results of the elections will be reviewed.
