The coordinator of the observers group of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has been appointed in connection with the snap parliamentary elections to be held in Azerbaijan, the Organization told APA.
By the order of the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin was appointed as the coordinator of the international observation group.
Currently, a group of observers is being formed from representatives of IPA CIS member states, officials of the Assembly, and experts from the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development of IPA CIS.
International observers from the IPA CIS will participate in monitoring the elections at the invitation of Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Recall that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an Order on the dissolution of the VI convocation of the Milli Majlis and setting snap parliamentary elections in the country on September 1, 2024.
