Our observations indicate that the parliamentary elections were conducted in accordance with Azerbaijan's national legislation, as well as the rules and procedures of the Central Election Commission, Altai Efendiyev, Secretary-General of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, said at a press conference concerning the snap parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
He noted that the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly observed the elections at polling stations in Baku's Sabail, Narimanov, and Yasamal districts: "Our observations show that conditions were created for people to participate freely in the election process."
"We did not record any significant irregularities. Minor issues that would not affect the voting process were reported to the polling stations. On average, the number of candidates per polling station ranged from 7 to 10. They represented various parties, and there were also independent candidates. Voters were not subject to any internal or external influence. We also witnessed greater activity at some polling stations. Overall, the election can be considered fair and transparent. We congratulate the people of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani government," Altai Efendiyev added.
