Cases of use of fake journalist cards have been detected in several polling stations during snap parliamentary elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan, it has been noted in the joint statement released by Media Development Agency and Ministry of Internal Affairs, APA reports.

It has been noted that the "Journalist license", which has been claimed to be issued by Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been prepared illegally by grossly repeating elements of an original copy of the license on it.

"We remind you that the procedure for issuing a journalist's license is regulated by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Media" and "Rules for Maintaining the Media Register", and its form is approved by the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A journalist card is an official document with a unique registration number consisting of a combination of numbers and (or letters) issued by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan to journalists who meet the requirements of the relevant legislation. By scanning the QR code placed on the back of the card, it is possible to identify the holder of the card, whether it is included in the Media Register or not, as well as to determine the authenticity of the card.

We inform you that the falsification and use of a journalist's card in any form and method leads to the responsibility defined by the legislation. Currently, relevant investigations are being conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a legal evaluation of the fact will be provided," the information said.
