Azerbaijan's Electoral Code fully meets int'l standards - Coordinator of IPA CIS Observer Group

"Our mission has already been in Azerbaijan since December 2023 and examines issues regarding the election," Coordinator of Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) Observer Group, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakyp Asanov said at a briefing on the results of the monitoring of snap presidential elections held in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

"We witnessed conformity with international standards, and human rights conventions, as well as recognition of political and civil rights in the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the elections, all the conditions and freedom for secret voting were ensured. Thus, the legislation of elections in Azerbaijan fully meets the international standards," he stated.

Zhakyp Asanov added that the presidential elections held in Azerbaijan have a historical importance.

"We, the members of the parliaments of various countries, were joyful not only for our participation in this significant day as observers, but also for our participation in the historical event of the prospering Azerbaijan, and also witnessing the process. I once again sincerely congratulate the people of Azerbaijan and wish peace and tranquility to your country," he noted.
