Azerbaijan's Consul General: Voter turnout in Istanbul is observed

Voter turnout in Istanbul is observed within the framework of the extraordinary presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan held today, said Narmina Mustafayeva, Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Istanbul, Türkiye in her statement to the journalists, APA’s Türkiye correspondent reports.

She also added that these elections are different from the elections of the past years:

“These are historical elections. The biggest significance of it is that this time the voting process was held in all territories of Azerbaijan. Persons displaced from their homelands returned to Khankandi, Shusha, Fuzuli and other liberated territories and vote in the polling stations which were set up there. We believe that the elections will end with high voter turnout both here (Istanbul) and in our country.”

Note that voting in the presidential election is going on in Azerbaijan. Candidates for the presidency in the upcoming election include incumbent President Ilham Aliyev (New Azerbaijan Party), independent contenders Zahid Oruj and Fuad Aliyev, Razi Nurullayev (National Front Party), Fazil Mustafa (Great Order Party), Elshad Musayev (Great Azerbaijan Party), and Gudrat Gasanguliyev (Whole Azerbaijan Popular Front Party).

Polling stations are open for voters from 08:00, and to close at 19:00.
