Azerbaijani MFA: 49 polling stations established in 37 countries regarding snap presidential elections

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking relevant measures to help Azerbaijani citizens residing abroad or being on the long-term overseas assignment exercise their voting rights in the snap presidential election scheduled to be held in the country on February 7 this year, the ministry’s press service told APA.

According to the foreign ministry, the Azerbaijani diplomatic missions and consulates had compiled the list of voters comprising the Azerbaijani citizens aged 18, who live abroad or are currently on the long-term overseas missions, and had submitted the list to Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC).

In accordance with the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the voting will take place at the diplomatic missions and consulates with a number of registered voters exceeding 50.

According to the information provided by CEC, a total of 49 polling stations were set up in 37 countries to conduct the election process abroad.

The snap presidential election, scheduled to take place in line with the local time zones of the countries starting from 08:00 until 19:00 at the polling stations set up at the Azerbaijani diplomatic missions, will kick off at country’s embassy in the People's Republic of China and wrap up at the Consulate General in Los Angeles, the United States.
