On January 17, the Chairman of Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov met with the delegation led by the First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Leonid Anfimov, who is visiting Azerbaijan to observe the extraordinary presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan to be held on February 7, 2024, CEC told APA.
Emphasizing that the observation institute plays an important role in ensuring openness and transparency in the elections, the Chairman highlighted that the supreme electoral body led by him always attaches special importance to cooperation with international organizations. He highly regarded the great interest of international observers in the elections held in Azerbaijan.
Chairman M.Panahov spoke about the steps taken in the direction of free, fair and transparent holding of the upcoming elections and the large-scale projects that have been implemented, and answered the questions they were interested in.
Within the framework of the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed and opinions were exchanged as well.
