The date of the first session of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) with the new composition has been revealed, APA reports.
The first session of the 4th Convocation Milli Majlis will be held on September 23.
It should be noted that on September 16, the Central Election Commission (CEC) submitted the relevant documents to the Constitutional Court for approval of the conclusions and results of the extraordinary elections to the Milli Majlis. On September 21, at the session of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court on special constitutional proceedings, the results of the extraordinary elections were approved.
According to the Internal Regulations of the Milli Majlis, the first session of the Milli Majlis shall be convened no later than a week after the approval of the powers of 83 MPs of the Milli Majlis. The first session of the next convocation of the Milli Majlis is opened by the oldest MP of the Milli Majlis; reading the list of MPs elected to the Milli Majlis and conducting the first session until the Chairman of the Milli Majlis is elected. At the proposal of the chairman of the first meeting of the Milli Majlis, the Accounting Commission is elected, and after the decision is made, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis and his or her deputies are elected, thus the first session of the next convocation of the Milli Majlis ends its work.
Thus, on September 23, the Speaker of the Parliament and his or her deputies will be elected at the first session of the new composition of the Milli Majlis.
