72 international observers accredited in connection with presidential elections in Azerbaijan

"To date, 72 international observers have been accredited in connection with the extraordinary presidential elections," Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said at a meeting of CEC held today, APA reports.

The CEC Chairman stated that there are already information sent that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will monitor the presidential elections with 37 people, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly with 17 people, Türkiye with 5 people, CIS with 9 people, and the Central Election Commission of Georgia with an observation mission led by the Chairman. In total, 72 international observers from 19 countries were accredited.

In addition, 228 local observers have been accredited in the CEC. 92 of them are self-initiated, 10 are representatives of NGOs, and 126 are special permissioned YAP observers.

Note that on February 7, 2024, extraordinary presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan.
