“Everyone knows Azerbaijanis’ tolerance. Jews always lived in atmosphere of friendship relations and mutual understanding. Tolerance and friendship relations between Azerbaijanis and Jews in the period when anti-Semitism is escalating in the most of ‘civilized’ European countries is a unique event. The establishment of Israel-Azerbaijan International Association is a splendid example of this atmosphere,” Nobert Yevdayev, chief of Cultural Fund of Azerbaijani Mountain Jews in the US told the APA Israel bureau.
Yevdayev participated in the constituent conference of Israel-Azerbaijan International Association in Tel Aviv. He said that Azerbaijanis always respected Jewish culture. He said there is no single fact on violence against Jews in Azerbaijani history.
“Azerbaijanis highly appreciate Jewish community’s contribution to the development of Azerbaijan,” he said.
Noting that the newly-established association will serve establishment of friendship relations between Israel and Azerbaijan, Yevdayev especially stressed uniting of Jews and Azerbaijanis in this association. /APA/
