â€œAshug artâ€ and â€œAzerbaijani carpetsâ€ presented to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Subjects to be examined include the draft operational directives guiding the implementation of the Convention, i.e. the selection criteria and procedures for inscription on the two Lists foreseen by the Convention - the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - as well as the directives concerning the selection of those projects, programmes and activities which best reflect the principles and objectives of the Convention.
Roya Tagiyeva, Director of Museum of Azerbaijani Carpet and Applied Art named after L. Karimov, Sanubar Bagirova, UNESCO expert, scientific worker of Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS participate in the session. Discussions will be held on inclusion of â€œAshug artâ€ and â€œAzerbaijani carpetsâ€ in Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The session will end on June 19.
Azerbaijani mugam was evaluated as masterpiece of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in November, 2003.
