Today, an event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the China (Jieszyan) – Europe Railway Express route under the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and the welcoming of the Yiwu (China) – Baku (Azerbaijan) train was held at the Absheron Logistics Center, APA-Economics reports.
Within the event attended by officials of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), the 237th block train passing through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route on the China (Zhejiang)–Europe Railway Express route was welcomed.
Container cargoes brought by the Yiwu–Baku train under the TITR will be sent to the Turkish and European markets via Azerbaijan.
It was noted at the ceremony that recently, relations between China and Azerbaijan in transportation, especially in railway freight, continue to expand. In July, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ADY and the China State Railway Corporation, an agreement reached to increase the potential of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line, the appointment of an ADY representative at the Xi'an Port, and the opening of a container yard with an annual handling capacity of 20,000 TEU, as well as last month, China’s “China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd.” (CRCT) joining the joint venture “Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd.” once again demonstrate the importance of effective cooperation between the two countries for the development of the Middle Corridor and East-West-East transportation.
