During January-June of 2024, the volume of cargo transported in the transport corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan amounted to 16 407,6 thousand tons, with a cargo turnover of 6,633.5 million ton-kilometers, APA-Economics reports citing State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, an increase of 0.2% and 2.4% was observed, respectively.
According to the Committee, the volume of cargo transported through the East-West transportation corridor was 8,170 thousand tons, including 4,242.1 thousand tons through the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transportation corridor, 4,807.7 thousand tons through the North-South transportation corridor, 3,248.8 thousand tons through the North-West transportation corridor, and 181.1 thousand tons through the South-West transportation corridor.
7 506,7 thousand tons or 45,8% of the cargo was transported by rail, 5 004,4 thousand tons or 30,5% was transported by road, 3 175,8 thousand tons or 23,3% was transported by sea transport.
Of the transported cargo, 7,506.7 thousand tons, or 45.8%, were transported by rail, 5,004.4 thousand tons, or 30.5%, by road, and 3,896.5 thousand tons, or 23.7%, by sea. Transit cargo accounted for 59.2%, or 9,707.6 thousand tons, of the total cargo transported through the transportation corridors.
