"The Middle Corridor, passing through Kazakhstan, demonstrates active growth in freight traffic," Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kazakhstan’s "NurZholCompany", Head of the Board of the National Association of Exporters "KazGrain" Kanat Kobessov said during his speech at the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that despite current economic difficulties, global trade is expected to grow annually in the coming years:
"In recent years, the Eurasian region is becoming an increasingly significant part of the world’s transportation system, with three key corridors playing a crucial role in this process. The Northern Corridor, which passes through eastern Russia, is losing its position due to geopolitical and economic changes. In contrast, the Middle Corridor, passing through Kazakhstan, is showing active growth. Another important element of development is the newly emerging Southern Corridor, which connects the Caucasus with Central Asia through Kazakhstan. Railway connectivity plays a vital role in developing this infrastructure, and active growth is underway in this direction, with expectations that the corridor will expand with new routes."
