In January of this year, transport operators served a total of 167 million 807.9 thousand passengers, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistical Committee.
This figure increased by 6.8 percent compared to the same month of last year.
It was noted that 88.8 percent of passengers used road transport, 10.5 percent used the metro, and the remainder used other modes of transport.
Last month, 856.2 thousand passengers were transported by rail, which is 20 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
During the period, the number of passengers transported by sea decreased by 29.6 percent compared to January 2025, amounting to 1.9 thousand people.
Additionally, in January, 142 million 860.1 thousand passengers used buses, while 6 million 176 thousand used passenger taxi services. The number of metro passengers decreased by 2.2 percent to 17 million 595.6 thousand people.
A total of 318.1 thousand passengers were transported by air, which is 5 percent more compared to January of last year. Of these transportations, 99.9 percent were carried out by state-owned transport vehicles, and 0.1 percent by private enterprises.
