The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line, which was inaugurated seven years ago today, has significantly enhanced Azerbaijan's role in regional and global freight transportation over the past years, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) told APA-Economics.
The BTK line, one of the main transportation arteries of the Middle Corridor, has increased the volume and speed of freight transport with a freight capacity of 5 million tons following the completed modernization this year.
It was noted that an agreement was reached between ADY and Chinese companies for the transport of Chinese-origin goods via container block trains over the BTK line.
"This year, over 210 block trains from China have been received through the Middle Corridor. By the end of the year, more than 300 trains are expected to be dispatched," ADY states.
