Number of companies joining to Middle Corridor increases - Türkiye's State Railways

The Corridor is increasingly expanding with the addition of new member companies as a result of the steps we have taken together with Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan in the development of the Middle Corridor as Türkiye, said Ufuk Yalçın, the General Director and Chairman of the Board of Türkiye's State Railways "TCDD Taşımacılık," in his statement to journalists, APA-Economics reports.

"Currently, the main feature of the corridor in the transportation between China and Europe is to be a means to facilitate the transportation of Chinese products to Europe and European products to China in the shortest time and in the safest way," he added.

Yalçın noted that the International Association "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" of Legal Entities currently has more than 20 members:

"As Türkiye, we are conducting consultations in cooperation with Azerbaijan in terms of strengthening the Middle Corridor. Our goal is to increase our freight transport along the corridor to 2.5 million tons by next year. This year, we plan to carry approximately 96,000 containers along the Middle Corridor. As a result of our efforts, we have succeeded in establishing a representation of our union in China. In 2025 and following years, we plan to increase freight traffic between the west and the east as soon as possible, in addition to the development of the Middle Corridor and, alternatively, the north-south corridors."
