The Middle Corridor is becoming increasingly important as a key trade route connecting Asia and Europe, and high-quality infrastructure investments are essential for its development, Ayumi Konishi, Senior Advisor to the CEO of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF), said during the session titled “Financing the Middle Corridor for Sustainable Transport and Trade,” organized within the framework of the Islamic Development Bank Annual Meetings held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to her, projects along the Middle Corridor can be supported through the Islamic Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and other partner institutions.

The senior advisor noted that MCDF, established in 2021, is financed by seven donor countries and cooperates with 14 international financial institutions:

“MCDF is a small multilateral initiative established in 2021, five years ago. Its objective is to promote high-quality connectivity infrastructure investments through partnerships. As you can see, we are financed by seven countries and work closely with 14 multilateral development banks or international financial institutions, including the Islamic Development Bank. Over the past five and a half years, the organization has also held 43 events and brought together more than 8,500 participants from over 100 countries.”
